Parents and Students form a community in San Diego
North Park Toyland Parade 2019

“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.” Jane D. Hull

We have a warm, generous, and engaged parent community. We are blessed to have so many who share their time and talents to support our school, our students, and each other. We appreciate the unique expertise and experience of all parents, and we embrace all families as partners in providing support, guidance, and inspiration for the children of our school.

Parent-Teacher Group (PTG) Board

The PTG is the fundraising branch of parent leadership. The four major school fundraisers include the Scrip Program, Fall Festival, Jog-a-Thon, and the Auction. The PTG Board meets on a monthly basis and coordinates general parent meetings per year including Back-to-School Night, information and guest speaker sessions, Talent Show & Ice Cream Social, and Fine Arts Night & Family Spaghetti Dinner.

Purpose:

  • Enhance communication among parents, teachers and administrators
  • Assist principal and pastor to integrate school and parish communities
  • Coordinate school fundraising efforts to keep tuition costs low
  • Promote the integration of spiritual, educational and social resources of home, school and community to provide the best Catholic education possible
  • Host hospitality events such as : Grandparents’ Day, First Communion reception, graduation ceremonies for preschool and 8th grade, Open House, New Parent Orientation, monthly Teacher Appreciation Luncheons, and all evening schoolwide community events.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board consists of parents and community members whose goal is to advise the pastor and principal. These volunteers advise in matters concerning school policy, business, enrollment, and technology. The Advisory Board also addresses and advises on legal and maintenance issues.  This Board networks its efforts with those of the PTG Board and the Development Core Team.

Development Board

The focus of the Development Board is “the meaningful involvement of people in our mission and vision for the future”. The Board engages in long-range planning and fosters broad participation and support to ensure the growth and sustainability of St. Didacus Parish School. The Core Team, in collaboration with the pastor and principal, implement development plans which include community and alumni relations, financial planning, building endowment funds, outreach, public relations, and other avenues which identify, inform, invite, involve, implement, invest in, and improve St. Didacus Parish School.

Room Parents

Room Parents are volunteer parents that play an important role of the PTG. These volunteers coordinate many events and interact closely with your children’s teachers. They foster positive collaboration and communication among parents, in partnership with the school. Room parents assist with fundraising, provide information and updates to classes, and coordinate special events.

Christian Action Program – CAP

The Christian Action Program provides an additional avenue for our families to grow in their faith.  Both parents and students serve the community and parish by bringing our living God more deeply into their lives. This service welcomes others into the embrace of God’s love. This K-8th faith-enrichment program is designed to strengthen our knowledge and practice through these elements:

  • Family Masses
  • Monthly visits to Senior Community
  • Fellowship and Service
  • Mornings of Prayer
  • Parent Prayer Group
  • Speakers
