St. Didacus is able to do great things because of the support of our caring parents. Please take this new school year as an opportunity to get more involved in your child’s life by volunteering. Listed below are the leadership volunteer opportunities with a general description. We have been able to fill about half the rolls, but still need help filling the highlighted ones.  Please take the time to review the list and respond with where you think you can help.

Opportunities

Room Parents – Open – at least one per grade Preschool – 8th Grade

  • Supports teacher 
  • Coordinates class parties 
  • Distributes school-related communication to class parents 
  • Coordinates events as needed
  • A classroom volunteering in collaboration with teacher
  • Each class is responsible for sponsoring a teacher/staff lunch – room parent coordinates and sets up the lunch
  • Kinder – traditionally sets up Preschool Graduation 
  • 7th Grade – traditionally sets up 8th Grade Graduation 
  • 3rd Grade – traditionally sets up 1st Communion Reception 
  • Coordinates Auction art project for class

Christian Action Program (CAP) Parent – Open – at least one per grade Kinder – 8th Grade

Leads CAP events for the class 

  • Leads class Lent Morning of Prayer 
  • Leads class Advent Morning of Prayer 
  • Coordinates grade level appropriate community service events/activities

Christian Action Program (CAP) Coordinator – Filled for 2021-2022 by Angela McGinnis and Misti Gyamfi.

  • Responsible for providing training to all classroom CAP representatives 
  • Works with Principal to set schedule for Morning of Prayer events 
  • Works with teachers to ensure each grade has a CAP parent representative
  • Provides communication and support to CAP parent representatives regarding CAP and CAP events
  • Support teacher with Family Mass

PTG – President – Filled for 2021-2022 by Carmen Leon

  • Lead PTG meetings 
    • Prepare the meeting agendas
    • Prepare meeting prayers 
  • Support the Principal with setting up refreshments for school events pre COVID:
    • Set up Adams Ave Street Fair 
    • Spaghetti Dinner 
    • Ice Cream Social
    • Court of Awards 
    • Talent Show/Fine Arts Night 
    • Family Math Night
  • New Parent Orientation – refreshments & speak
  • Back to School Night – refreshments & speak
  • School Open House – refreshments & provide tours 
  • Lenten Soup Kitchen 
  • Coordinate PTG Fall Festival Booth 
  • Coordinate purchase and distribution of school logo gear and items
  • Support fundraising event chairs as needed 
  • Other events and items as they come up based on teacher/staff and parent feedback 
  • Fill in to ensure events take place when there is a shortage of volunteers

PTG – Vice President – Open – parent volunteer needed

  • Attends PTG meetings 
  • Supports PTG President in ensuring events are set up and coordinates 
  • Fills in for PTG President when President is not available 
  • Will eventually step in to PTG President role

PTG – Secretary – Filled for 2021-2022 by Yvette Paden

  • Attends PTG meetings 
  • Supports PTG President and Vice President in ensuring events are set up and coordinates 
  • Capture monthly meeting minutes for PTG meeting

PTG – Treasurer – Filled for 2021-2022 by Nesreen Abraham

  • Attends PTG meetings 
  • Supports PTG President and Vice President in ensuring events are set up and coordinates 
  • Maintains PTG Budget

PTG – Room Parent Coordinator – Filled for 2021-2022 by Melissa Scott

  • Responsible for providing training to all classroom room parents 
  • Attends PTG meetings 
  • Provides communication from PTG meeting and fundraising event leads to room parents to distribute 
  • Ensures all teachers have a room parent representative 
  • Send reminders to room parents for upcoming events and budgets for special events
  • Solicits volunteers for PTG coordinated events (see event list under PTG President)

PTG – Hospitality Coordinator or co chairs – Open – parent volunteer needed

  • Attend PTG meetings 
  • Organize 2 – 4 community building events (examples)
    • Restaurant nights
    • Bowling night
    • Boomers’ night 
    • Happy Hour 

Fundraising – Jog-a-Thon – Open – event chair or co-chairs 

  • Sets up website
  • Organizes the event

Fundraising – Auction/Gala – Open – event chair or co-chairs 

  • A lead for the fundraiser is needed
  • A committee and possibly sub-committees are needed
  • Lead and committee are responsible for all efforts related to organizing, communications, donation solicitation, event set up, event clean up, donation tracking, etc.

Fundraising – Annual Appeal – Open – (TBD if this will be taking place next school year) 

  • If this is going to take place a lead for the fundraising efforts is needed 
  • A committee is needed to support this effort 

Fundraising – 3rd Fundraiser like Spring Festival – Open –   event chair or co-chairs 

  • If this is going to take place a lead for the fundraiser is needed

  • Lead and committee are responsible for all efforts related to organizing, communications, donation solicitation, event set up, event clean up, donation tracking etc. 

Yearbook Crew Leads –Filled for 2021-2022 by Kristy Tarantino and Michelle Cook

  • Works with staff and parents to capture pictures throughout the year
  • Compiles yearbook for school
  • Aids in distributing yearbooks

School Photographer/ Videographer – Open –  One Parent Volunteer, Ideally multiple

  • Photographs school events, fundraising events, school and church
  • Videos school events, fundraising events, school and church
  • Coordinates with other parents to collect pictures and videos
  • Supports Yearbook and Social Media Efforts

Advisory Board – President – Filled for 2021-2022 by Peter Dougherty 

  • Leads Advisory Board meetings 
  • Prepares the meeting agendas in conjunction with the Principal
  • Organizes committees in support of the Advisory Board
  • Facilitates board discussion in order to provide school policy recommendation to the Principal and Priest. 
  • Captures board member concerns and agenda items for further action

Advisory Board – Vice President – Filled for 2021-2022 by Yvonne Audiss  

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Fills in for Advisory Board President when President is not available 

Advisory Board – Secretary – Filled for 2021-2022 by Peter Chodzko     

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Supports Advisory Board President and Vice President
  • Capture monthly meeting minutes for Advisory Board meeting

Advisory Board – Media Chair – Filled for 2021-2022 by Sally O’Hollaren

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Provide recommendation regarding media policy at the school

·         Helps develop marketing plan and strategy.

Advisory Board – Media Vice Chair, Facebook Manager – Open – parent volunteer needed

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 

·         Create meaningful content for school and church on Facebook

  • Provide recommendation regarding media policy at the school

Advisory Board – Media Vice Chair, Blogger – Open – parent volunteer needed

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Post blog topics about school news, events, and church
  • Provide recommendation regarding media policy at the school

Advisory Board – Facilities Chair – Filled for 2021-2022 by Peter Radzicki

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Provide recommendation regarding facility work at the school
  • Organizes work events at schools to aid in school upkeep

  Advisory Board – Member – Open – Must be nominated, ideally parents from lower and upper halls

  • Attends Advisory Board meetings 
  • Supports advisory board discussions

Please seriously consider how you can help. If you chose not to take on a leadership role, please continue to volunteer where you can throughout the year. The people listed above will need you continued support to ensure a success 2021-2022 school year. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated.
